You may or may not be aware that we have our own in-house web development team who are busy helping small to medium-sized businesses improve their online presence with brand new, modern, bespoke websites. At ES Systems we understand that for most of our clients, a new website is a significant investment and there is a void in access to web services for organisations that don’t operate with an astronomical budget. Your website reflects your company business and is vital to your online presence. It can be the difference between gaining or losing a new customer in the modern world we live in. Consider the following factors:
Does your website match your current branding?
If you’ve rebranded since your website was built, this may confuse visitors to your site. To establish the most impactful brand image, you should keep things consistent across all marketing channels.
Are you getting your message across?
Content – often left as the last piece of the puzzle in a new website design project – is actually one of the mostimportant elements of your website. It’s also probably some of the most difficult copy you will ever try and write. Why?
Because words go a long way when it comes to converting your website’s visitors into customers and clients. If you can successfully pair up awesome design with great content, you’re on to a winning combination.
So, what’s the problem with content on many business’ websites?
- It’s not regularly fine-tuned and updated, so it makes their website appear extremely stagnant, and can even make the business project a totally different message to the one they intended.
- It’s written like a series of statements and facts. E.g. “We were founded in 2009 and offer web design services to small businesses”. Instead, the copy should address the problems that business’ clients are facing and how they can solve them.
Content is definitely still king online, and it will continue to be that way far beyond 2018, so having a website that makes it super-easy for you to effortlessly add new content is essential if you want your website to be a success.
Is your site responsive?
Have you browsed a website on your phone or tablet and not been able to read the text as it’s too small, making the links almost impossible to click? Well, that website will not be responsive which in other words means “mobile-friendly”. A well-designed responsive site takes fingertip size into account, making links large enough in a mobile view to click easily with your finger. Additionally, responsive design allows all site content to be viewed on all devices. Unlike once-trendy mobile versions of sites, a responsive site is not a trimmed-down version of your site—it simply morphs to fit any screen, from browser to tablet to phone, no matter the model or brand.
Does your site feature a clear Call to Action?
If users don’t find what they’re looking for quickly, most won’t spend their time and energy to dig for it. You have a small window of time to capture a user, so you want to make sure there’s no question about how you want them to interact with your site.
Does your website have an SSL Certificate?
Modern browsers will now begin to flag your website as “Not Secure” if it features any type of form or data entry required by the user. As the majority of websites nowadays include a form on the contact page, it’s likely the user will receive the warning the moment they browse to your front page. For more information click here.
